Always
drawn to the arts, Rons first passion was music. An opportunity arose in
commercial production initially to work in his familys Cincinnati-based
business, Instant Replay, which later became Hamad Films. His ascent took him
to Chicago in 1988 where he lived and worked for two years. In 1990 his journey
continued to Los Angeles, where he has been based and continues to reside and
work. Rons 18-year career as a commercial and music video director has earned
him numerous industry directorial awards. He has directed commercials all over
the country as well as internationally. Never having lost sight of his roots,
Rons current directorial affiliation in the Midwest is with Hundred Street
Films, maintaining long-time relationships with Cincinnati.
Rons
passion for photography has been a natural outgrowth of his visual strengths as
a director. Armed with an antique plastic Diana camera, he began instinctively
shooting whatever caught his eye. Vintage cameras are his medium of choice;
Diana, Holga and his latest find: a restored 1972 Hasselblad.
Ron
is drawn to beauty, to pause, to flickers of light across landscapes or faces.
His poetic enthusiasm, regardless of the medium, is always to illuminate
moments of humanity. Capturing these quiet, still moments in time and space,
through the use of photography, is a natural progression in his life as an
artist.
This
past year his photography was selected out of 1200 submissions to be one of 200
in what is regarded as one of the most prestigious Art Exhibitions of its kind
in Los Angeles, Focus On AIDS 2002. Most recently he has had two shows in Los
Angeles entitled "Quiet Moment" and "Sacred Forms."
Rons
work will be on view at Pendleton Pilates in the fall of 2003. For further
information or to ask about commissioning Ron for your own Goddess portrait,
