| GETTING
STARTED
Pilates is a system of mindful exercises developed by
Joseph Pilates. In his 1945 book "Pilates' Return to Life through Contrology",
he explains this form of exercise "develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong
postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind, and elevates the
spirit". Regular sessions can help transform the way you look and feel while
teaching you how to more efficiently use your body.
Pilates is a full body-conditioning program comprised of a
series of approximately 500 designed movements performed on a mat and/or on
specific apparatus. Pilates improves strength, flexibility, balance, control
and muscular symmetry. The rhythmic exercises promote elongated and toned
muscles, and are noted for developing abdomen, lower back and buttocks
strength, and create a strong body core.
That's why it is popular with so many people. It doesn't
matter whether you are a top athlete or haven't exercised in years - Pilates
meets you where you are and Pendleton Pilates instructors are particularly
adept at meeting your fitness needs. Pendleton Pilates currently offers several
ways to practice Pilates:
Mat Classes (no appointment required), Ball Classes (no appointment required),
Reformer Private or Group Sessions (by appointment only).
Mat and Ball Classes
Our Mat and Ball classes are 55 minutes of Pilates
fundamentals and floor exercises, either on the Mat or using the Pilates Ball
for stability. We ask that clients reserve a spot for these classes. You can do
so online through
WebScheduler. Both classes are mixed levels. Our teachers offer
guidance and modifications to allow both beginners and advanced-level clients
to experience a fulfilling workout. No introductory sessions are required for
Mat classes. An individual class is $12 and a 10-session class pass is $100.
For more information on pricing see Pilates Packages.
For class times see Schedule.
Group and Private Reformer Classes
At Pendleton Pilates, we request that our clients first
invest in an Initial Consultation Series. These introductory training sessions
are designed to teach you how get the most out of your Group Reformer sessions.
We do this by instructing you in the fundamentals of Pilates, the movements we
regularly do in class, and working with you on proper body alignment on the
Reformer. The Initial Consultation Series is mandatory for those who wish to
enter Group Reformer Classes and Private Instruction. If you have prior Pilates
experience, please let us know as we may be able to work out a shorter
introductory experience, particularly if you have been trained elsewhere by a
Pendleton Pilates certified teacher.
Additionally, once you have completed your Consultation Series, you will be
able to schedule yourself into classes and manage your own package online.
Please visit
Webscheduler or Class Schedule to see our
classes. If you aren't internet savvy or wish us to schedule for you, our
Management Team can help you at 513.478.3232.
Pendleton Pilates is an educational facility and on
occasion, your session may be observed or taught by teacher training
apprentice(s) under the guidance of a certified Pendleton teacher.
Initial Consultation Series
The cost for the Initial Consultation Series is $150. It
includes four hour-long private or semi-private sessions. We offer the Series
on an appointment basis at both studio locations.
Private Appointments
Current Pendleton clients can also schedule private
appointments online. Visit Webscheduler and go the Appointments tab to start
the process. If you have not visited us before, you will most likely need to
schedule an Initial Consultation Series. We request that you do so by calling
the studio you wish to attend so that we can speak to you by phone and get you
set up with the best instructors for your first visits.
What Should I Do First?
If you wish to work out on the Reformer, you will call us to schedule your
Initial Consultation Series. After you finish your series and buy a package of
classes with us, you will be able to schedule yourself online if you wish. If
you would like to come to a Mat or Ball class, just stop in. These are "open"
classes and, at this time, you do not need an appointment for these classes.
